Messages for the Abhiyaan

Some words about the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan

"My dear brothers and sisters of Jammu & Kashmir,

Drug abuse is one of the gravest challenges facing our society today. It destroys individuals, shatters families, and weakens the very fabric of our communities. Under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, we have taken a collective pledge to eradicate this menace from our beautiful Union Territory.

Our youth are the future of Jammu & Kashmir. Their energy must be channelized into creativity, innovation, and nation-building – not lost to the darkness of addiction. Together, let us build an environment where awareness, prevention, and rehabilitation are given top priority.

I urge every citizen, especially our youth, parents, teachers, religious leaders, and civil society members, to come forward and take active part in this movement. Let us extend a hand of compassion to those affected and create a support system that helps them reclaim their lives with dignity.

A Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir is not just a dream – it is our shared responsibility. Together, we will realize it.

Let us rise together to build a healthy, safe, and prosperous Jammu & Kashmir.

Jai Hind!"

quote

Sh. Manoj Sinha

Hon'ble Lt. Governor, J&K

"The rising tide of drug addiction is a growing concern that affects not just the health and future of our youth, but also undermines the social and economic well-being of entire Jammu and Kashmir. As Chief Minister, I consider it my highest priority to confront this challenge with unwavering commitment, unity and compassion.

‘The Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan’ is a transformative movement designed to free our homes, schools and communities from the grip of substance abuse. This is a collective effort — it requires active participation of every individual and every section of society, including our youth, parents, educators, civil society, religious leaders and law enforcement agencies.

It is crucial to understand that addiction is not a crime — it is an illness that calls for empathy, care and support. Our approach must focus on prevention, early intervention and rehabilitation. We must create environments where those struggling with addiction feel safe to seek help, rather than fear or stigma.

I call upon the youth of Jammu & Kashmir, the heartbeat of our region — to reject the destructive path of drugs and embrace a life filled with purpose, hope and potential. Your dreams, aspirations and future are worth far more than any fleeting escape.

Let us pledge, together, to build a Jammu & Kashmir where every child grows up ina healthy, drug-free environment—a place where families are united, communities are strong and every citizen lives with dignity, hope and a bright future. This is not just a campaign; it is our collective mission, and I have no doubt that, united, we will succeed. Together, we can work towards a brighter future driven by unity, progress, and people-centric governance."

Mr. Omar Abdullah

Hon'ble Chief Minister, J&K

"Drug abuse is not just a personal affliction - it is a societal challenge that weakens our collective progress. The Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan is our coordinated effort to tackle this issue with resolve, compassion, and sustained action.

This mission demands more than awareness campaigns — it calls for systemic change. We are strengthening de-addiction infrastructure, improving access to counseling and rehabilitation, and empowering local communities through education and outreach. Schools, colleges, Panchayats, and urban local bodies are being mobilized as active partners in this fight.

But no policy or program can succeed without involvement of people. Every citizen - whether a student, parent, teacher, or social worker — plays a vital role. If we see someone struggling, we should reach out. If we suspect substance use in our area, we should report it. Let us be a society that is committed to reform in this area.

I urge all departments, NGOs, and community leaders to treat this mission with the urgency it deserves. Together, through coordinated governance and grassroots participation, we can create a lasting impact.

Let us commit to a Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir — not just in word, but in action."
